Coddle me Beautiful

"A stumble may prevent a fall." - English Proverb

I don't think it's right to anoint proverb-status to a statement that has "may" in it. That's hedging your bets. That's not "quivocating" one way or another. That's just bunk.

Look, I mean, I stumble all the time. Maybe I stumble because I'm clumsy. Maybe I stumble because I'm texting while walking. But I think it's dangerous and grandiose to my ego to assume that when I stumble I should look at it as an amazing save from a pending galactic wipe-out. I mean, that's just silly.

A much bolder statement is: "A stumble prevents a fall." Or, "A stumble proceeds a fall." And how about: "A stumble for one, is entertainment for all."

Just sayin'...
