Good Enough

"Perfect is the enemy of the good." - Voltaire

I'm sitting here laughing at this graph. I laugh because this is my life. hahaha. It's funny, right? This quote is so good. it's captivating, interesting, feels slightly off and is often mis-quoted for exactly that reason. Some might say (and I tend to agree) that it makes more sense to read it as: "Perfect is the worst enemy of Good Enough", "Perfection is the enemy of Good Enough", "Better Than Is the Enemy of Good Enough", "Better Is the Enemy of Good Enough". Each seems to be an adaptation for a specific moral that the (mis)quoter is trying to convey. I like the original the best, of course, but it does feel like it needs wrangling into a better order - into more control and clarity.

Then there are people like me who make graphs like THIS all day long and I just laugh. This kind of graphic passes muster! Amazing. Voltaire had it right. Perfection can drive one to madness and that is not good for anyone. Regardless, I'd like to make friends with "cool" and leave "good" alone.
